Product Description
One of the most time consuming step in the R-hop install is sanding the patch. This is to shape the silicone patch so it fits the hop window flush on both the inside and outside. Not only is it difficult to do, but the results can vary a lot from person to person, patch to patch.
After using the HopChop to cut the perfect height patch to match the inside diameter of the barrel. (Thereby eliminating the need to sand the inside of the patch) The HopPlane addresses the second step when the patch is taller than the hop window. Instead of sanding, we shave away the excess in a few seconds.
The HopPlane uses the same single edge blades as the HopChop. The blade is held down by a pair of neodymium magnets (round 6 mm x 1mm) or a M3 screw. Once assembled the curved side of the jig rests against the outside of the barrel and holds the blade perpendiular to the barrel surface.
To trim the patch, apply a drop of silicone oil to the blade and start from one edge of the window. A slicing motion will help move the blade over the patch. Avoid too much force or it could cause too much material to be cut away.
