Product Description
The Omega Octant is east of the Alpha Octant empires seen in the Star Fleet Universe (beyond the Inter-Stellar Concordium), on the other side of a galactic void. That void is a dead zone where life is impossible and ships fall apart, marking a separation between Octants. The Maesron Alliance was one of the preeminent empires of the Omega Octant, at one point the largest empire before civil war, economic collapse, and foreign invasion reduced their territory to a small enclave. Maesron ships are armed with wide-angle phasers, tachyon guns, and tachyon missiles.
As the Maesrons observed the Superpower Wars from behind their shield of self-imposed neutrality, they determined that they would require a new sort of carrier; one capable of being self-escorting, of flying into combat as needed, and of being able to deploy its squadron of attack shuttles more rapidly. After years of development and a number of failed attempts, the resulting Strike Carrier entered service just in time for the Second Great War. A variant of the heavy cruiser, this ship removed the side tachyon guns and cut down on the hull spaces and laboratory facilities in order to facilitate a full squadron of 14 fighters: eight superiority fighters, four tachyon gun fighters, and two tachyon missile fighters. In addition, eight of these fighter bays were equipped with launch tubes, making this only the second ship in the Omega Octant after the Drex Battlecarrier to possess this system which would be copied by the Hivers in short order and by other empires some time thereafter.
The ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
