"An ancient Knight emblem, the first widely available records appear in historical records of The Order of The Knights of The Black Sun made of post-Roman Britons in battles against Anglo-Saxon invaders of Britain in the late 5th and early 6th centuries. This order, an elite fighting force evolved into a semi-religious order and in 1119, during the Crusades evolved into the (slightly) better known Teutonic Order of Knights Templar (Poor Knights of the Temple of King Solomon - their actual real name). In 1312, under pressure from King Philip IV of France, Pope Clement V officially disbanded the Templar Order at the Council of Viena. This resulted in many knights escaping to countries where the church failed to eliminate the order completely (e.g., Portugal). To this day, you can find numerous depictions of the Black Sun in Tomar (Portugal), a stronghold of Templar resistance - 13th and 14th centuries."
