Product Description
The HE 5, nicknamed the "Hansa", first flew in 1926 and was operated by the German, Swedish and Soviet Union air forces.
This is the Swedish S5A version of which 12 were built under licence by Svenska Aero and another 10 were built by the Swedish Air Force itself.
Armament consisted of one fixed, forward firing Browning machine gun and one trainable, rearward-firing on a ring mount. It could carry 160kg of bombs on racks beneath the fuselage.
Two S5As took part in the 1928 international rescue effort to save the survivors from the crash of the airship Italia.
Please Note that you have a choice of scale for this model, either 1/285th(6mm) or 1/288th - please check your choice in the top right corner of this page when ordering.
There is barely a millimeter's difference between the two BUT, I do know that many modelers like to be exact about these things.
