Product Description

This is a design for the Wyrd Rune - often called the Blank Rune. It is intended to be used for Casting, in conjunction with the other pieces of this set, that are sold separately. These "Futhark Frames" can be used in a similar manner to Rune Stones. Many Norse Rune Sets contain 24 - 25 Runes. The Blank Rune is the 25th Rune.

Important Consideration: You may want to print each of this Rune in a color that is different from the Traditional Aettir Runes. Example. Wyrd Rune in Purple, Aett One in Yellow, Aett Two in Orange, Aett Three in Red. The color coding can help enhance a Cast - because you will quickly see if an Aett is dominant. And as such, you will be reminded to factor in the Aett Meanings into the Reading. Of course, advanced practitioners may not need this. But it can also be handy when explaining the Reading to the Seeker. (Try to pick a color that has a meaningful connection to the Rune - in your opinion).

Note: Regarding the Blank Rune Symbol - Scholars tell us that this Rune did not exist in the Original Eldar Futhark Script. Yet many modern day practitioners of Rune Casting find this Rune to be useful and meaningful. It is listed here separately, so that it can be purchased by those that want it, but can be ignored by those that dont use it in their Castings.

It is the designers opinion, that this 'Rune Symbol' can be a useful addition to a Casting. And to put it in context, it has parallels to the Carte Blanche Card, that is sometimes included in Tarot Decks. And to the extra 5 Ogham Staves, that were added in more recent times, to round out that system. Similarly, many Contemporary Bone Casters use a Sortilage approach to their Casting Collection. This means that the set has some bones, but also includes found and/or made items that are collected by the caster.  So, again, its up to the practitioner to decide what works for them. There is a place for "Extra Meaning", and/or "Assigned Meaning".

The Wyrd Rune is offered here, in case you would like to try it out.

Note: If you purchase the Rune in Plastic, it will likely feel light (weight) in the hand. At first, I didnt know what to think about that, but I have come to enjoy the bouyant feeling of these Futhark Frames. They Cast well, though your Casting technique may need to vary, based upon your casting surface, the form of these pieces, and your own physiology. If you are casting on a soft Altar Cloth, then you will get less bounce, and will need to adjust your technique to get the kind of 'scatter' that you are looking for. I like to place the Altar cloth on a hard surface, to add some bounce to the cast. Personal Preference. Softer surfaces can provide more overlap in the pieces, to give a more physical interaction between the pieces. This can effect the meaning, so consider this thoughtfully, and perhaps experiment to find out what works best for you (and/or the Spirits, and/or the Seeker).

Note: Currently, I call them Futhark Frames. Or Rune Frames - as opposed to Rune Stones.
