Product Description
A 1/32nd scale USN Mk13 torpedo Roll-Off-Rack.
Later in WW2 the 21" diameter long Mk8 (and Mk14) torpedo's and heavy torpedo tubes were discarded in favour of the shorter but fatter 22.5" Mk13 aircraft torpedo's which were merely rolled over the side of the boats from a Roll-Off-Rack. The Mk13 aircraft torpedo's had a much better and more stable gyro system which allowed this much simpler launch method.
This rack can be made operational with the addition of a tiny radio controlled servo, the servo just needs a single lever (supplied with the servo) which normally sits in the upright position to prevent the model torpedo from rolling off, when activated, the servo turns the lever down to allow the torpedo to launch. The recommended servo is a Hitek HS-35HD.
It also has a recessed position for a 6mm x 6mm or 1/4" x 1/4" neodymium magnet to operate future (not currently available as a working model) pt-boat.com Mk13 1/32nd scale torpedo's so that they would be running when they hit the water.
There are also eyelets at the rear of each arm so that you can "lash" the torpedo in place with a length of "tiger tail" or similar fine wire or scale rope.
