Product Description
This is a Cosmetic or Ear spoon from a Pagan Grave.
The original was made of Copper Alloy (Somewhere between Bronze and Brass most likely) and was found in Middle Harling, just outside of Thetford in Norfolk, UK. The orignal was probably beaten from a rod rather than cast.
The Man in the burial was likely a Danish settler and the grave is dated to the Late ninth or early tenth century AD.
The Replica is near enough 1:1 in scale.
I have received my copy. It is suitable for purpose as a decorative replica, NOT a functional item. Please be aware that the flattened sections are very prone to bending and the suspension loop needs a little bending to close it properly. It is also missing a small amount of decoration; namely a ridge on the underside and some transverse grooves near the suspension loop, but these are problems I consider to be very minor.
Details of the Burial can be found on pages 79 and 80
I Have made it available in both Polished Brass and Polished Bronze and Polished Silver, but also In Plastic so that you may organise your own casting of the item which may work out cheaper.
