The London, Manchester and Scottish Railway (LMS) introduced a final
'Stanier' design 20T brake van in 1935 which continued being built and operated well into the
BR period.
NOTES
Two versions of an LMS 20T brake van bodyshell are offered:
1. SMALL
This bodyshell is a conventional wagon designed for use a with a shortened Peco NR-122B 15' Brake Van Chassis.
- Remove but keep safe the buffer beams
- Shorten the Peco chassis to 49mm
- Replace the buffer beams using polystyrene cement.
2. LARGE
This bodyshell fits on a shortened Kato 11-110 motor chassis to create a powered model suitable for propelling unpowered locomotives, such as the Kato Pocketline Steam loco.
- Shorten the Kato chassis to 45mm
- Remove the securing hooks found above each wheel.
- Adjust fit by careful filing.
- The Kato coupling pockets can be re-attached using cyanoacrylic (Superglue) gel after roughening the mating surfaces.
