Currently 61 of 100 editions are available (1st edition is sold out).
This is a 5 inch / 12 cm version of my sculpture of Stanley Kubrick as a character mixed from elements of his films. It's the 2nd version (1st edition with donut is sold out), a limited edition available until one hundred (100) 3D-prints are made. 80% of the price covers the 3D-printed material itself, 20% I added for my labor.
The Story.
The Shining transgenders
Kubrick with an ax head. His entire identity, even his humanity is relinquished. Hal's all seeing eye welds itself to his chest. He is a female robot. He's the ancient ape predating
2001. He grasps for reality with the grip of a
Full Metal Jacket AK-47.
Clockwork Orange costuming veils him from the world in vain. Nothing can stop Stanley from drifting off into the surreal void.
Working the 3D Model. After I carved the wood sculpture I made a 3D scan. I re-sculpted this with 3D-modelling software. I enlarged, deleted or altered certain parts. Some things need to be thick to be 3D-printed. Enlarging also raises the cost of the material. I worked to lower the cost & meet the technical spec's. Including the 3D-scan, patching, re-sculpting details & color 'paint' job, it took me about 18 hours to develop this for 3D printing here.
The Wood Carvings. See pictures, videos and more about
my original Stanley Kubrick wood carving here on my website. The original 18 inch sculpture took me weeks to carve from scratch in western red & yellow cedar wood, then paint in acrylic. It was part of my
"King Cuts" series of wood carvings depicting famous film directors mashed with their characters. I'm working on more 3D-print editions from this series.
