- Royal Navy Renown-class battlecruiser built during WW1; reconstructed 1933-1936
- participated in various convoy escort duties as well as interception/search for German warships during the opening years of WW2
- sunk 10 Dec 1941 together with battleship HMS Prince of Wales (Force Z) off South China Sea by Japanese land-based aircrafts
