Product Description
Vintage style large hexagonal wall lamps in HO scale (1:87), ready for installing nano LEDs, set of 40. Lamp diameter: 6 mm (scale 20 inches). Extends from wall by 9.15mm (scale 31 inches). Also usable in 1:76 British OO scale.
Assembly:
The lamps are sprued in a tree so they do not get misplaced or damaged in the manufacturing process. Use a sprue cutter or fine surgical blade to snip each lamp off the central pillar at the flush mount fitting. Each lamp has a 0.5 mm hole through the top that may require some cleaning by hand with piano wire or a 0.5 mm drill bit, to remove any left over plastic powder. The hole is wide enough to pass a pair of enameled wires ("magnet wire") of 30 to 36 gauge, to connect to a nano LED.
To make a realistic-looking bulb out of a nano LED, use warm white or amber LEDs of 0402 or 0603 size, and dip each LED in clear or preferably translucent glue, such as gorilla glue, after soldering the magnet wires to it. The glue should leave a somewhat globular drop around the LED, thus making it look like a classic light bulb once it dries. Pass the magnet wires through the top of the lamp, such as to partially insert the LED into the lampshade. At the other end, hook the wires to your power source in series with an appropriate resistor.
The model arrives unpainted, in translucent Smooth Fine Detail Plastic. For realism, it needs to be painted and a nano LED added, before installation into your model railroad layout or diorama.
