Product Description
The R class airships was built for the Kaiserliche Marine in 1916, to have a vessel capable of long range bombing and scouting missions. At 196.49mt (644ft8in), they were actually around the same size in length of a Trento class heavy cruiser from WW2; for this reason they were dubbed super Zeppelins. The two designations, L32 and LZ74, are actually of the same airship. This was due to the different designations in the factory and in service: the former (L32) is the number given to the ship by the Navy, while LZ74 is its factory designation, meaning it was the 74th to be completed. L32 took part in a raid on the night of 23/24 September 1916, targeting London; however it was intercepted and destroyed on its way back by a RFC (Royal Flying Corps) aircraft.
