Product Description
Originally used by the Pacific Coast Oil Company for delivery of crude oil from the Moody Gulch oil wells near Alma to the company's Alameda Point Refinery, these tanks, placed upon a flat car, were also used to transport fuel oil to various manufacturing plants along the South Pacific Coast Railroad. The last use on the SPC was to transport molasses from Santa Clara, where it arrived in standard gauge tank cars from the Spreckels Sugar plant near Salinas. The molasses's final destination was the Union Distilling Company near Agnews.
