Introducing the mind-melting Astrolabicon puzzle, a twist puzzle...
with a twist!
...that was terrible. Unlike this puzzle!
Rotate the two halves and move marbles along the track to reorganize them so all like colors touch. This works best with 12-15mm (9/16") marbles.
I got these, which worked
pretty well, but I might be looking for more consistently sized ones. Most chinese checkers marbles should do the trick. You'll also need 12 6x3mm
disc magnets like these.
The puzzle holds 24 marbles exactly, so here are some common options:
- Difficult - 4 colors, 6 marbles each
- Standard - 3 colors, 8 marbles each
- Beginner - 2 colors, 12 marbles each
I used
E6000 adhesive to hold the magnets in place, as well as the center axle (glued to one half). Once it's stuck together the glue isn't really necessary, but it's nice if you plan on taking the puzzle apart again.
