This 1:350 scale kit of parts is in Fine Detail plastic and is for use with the Schütte-Lanz Type "E" Hull. It includes ...
1 x Control Gondola
1 x Foreward Engine Car
1 x Rear Engine Car
2 x Midships Engine Cars
6 x Propellers (two are spares)
2 x Rudders (upper and lower)
2 x Elevators (port and starboard)
2 x Machine Guns for the hull top gun platform.
This is the SL11 kit, a separte kit is available HERE for SL8.
SL11 was army operated and was the first German airship to be shot down while bombing England. All 16 crew were lost in the raid of September 2-3 1916, the single biggest raid of the entire war although damage inflicted during the raid was relatively light.
Window markings for the Control Car are included on the Decal Sheet (available shortly.)
Apart from paint, glue, the decals etc. you will need to provide four household (dress maker's) pins - nominal diameter 0.6mm cut to 12.7mm (1/2 inch) - to complete the model.
The parts are printed within two seperately caged assemblies so that the price is kept as low as possible and to help protect against damage during transit. SEE THE DIAGRAMS ABOVE FOR WHERE TO CUT THE CAGES.
BEFORE removing the cages note that the Rudders and Elevators are labelled because they are each unique:
"i" = the Lower Rudder
"ii" = the Upper Rudder
"iii" = the Port (left) Elevator
"iv" = the Starbord (right) Elevator
SPECIAL NOTE: Fine Detail plastic can be quite brittle so bear this in mind when you snip open the cages. Retain everything within a cloth or tissue as you cut so that individual parts do not fall and get damaged or lost and so that one part is not ejected into another.
