Watch Wild T3 motion test video.
This is a model of my Wild T3 surveying instrument. This is the instrument that was used to establish the USGS precision triangulation network across the US. The upper and lower motions are designed to work.
The bearing surfaces are large for a FUD print and do require some TLC to get motion. When FUD is printed it is within a wax medium and some of the wax will be in the gaps for the bearings, keeping them from working. I am attempting to print the gaps large enough so very slight force can free the parts, however, sometimes larger bearings have to be heated so the wax melts, but, not the print. I do this as a last resort and I use an a heated ultrasound device. Boiling water is too hot. Once the wax is melted, I place the print in isopropyl alcohol and work the motion to rid the print of the wax.
This is an accurate model and it has been designed with working parts. Due to inconsistent printing not all models will function and this should be viewed as a model only.
