This pendant is inspired by the phylogenetic tree drawn by Jillian Banfield's group at UC Berkeley (A new view of the tree of life,
Nature Microbiology 1:16048 (2016)). A starburst style phylogenetic tree, it incorporates newly sequenced prokaryotic DNA from some unusual sources, including a salt crust from the Atacama Desert of Chile, a CO2-rich geyser system, and dolphin mouths. Resembling a bird, one tailfeather of the diagram represents the eukaryotes (you, your dog and the fungus on your bread) and all of the rest of the bird represents prokaryotes.
The pendant is 3 cm (1.2 in) long and the bail for the chain is hidden behind the pendant.
If you would like to purchase a chain along with this pendant, please click on the "ADD A CHAIN" button below the material dropdown. The internal measurement of the bail loop of the pendant is 1.8 mm wide by 5.8 mm long.
