Product Description
The 10.5cm LeFH 18/3 (Sf) auf Geschutzwagen B2(f) was an indirect-fire artillery self-propelled gun (SPG) in service with the Wehrmacht from 1942.
After the fall of France the Germans captured a number of intact French tanks, including some Char B1 Bis heavy tanks, designated as Panzerkampfwagen B2 740(f). 21 hulls had their original turrets removed and superstructure built on top instead, to be armed with the very successful German 10.5cm LeFH (Leichte FeldHaubitze - light field howitzer) M18, and used in indirect-fire artillery support. The resulting vehicle had a crew of 5 and a very tall profile - around 3mt, but being an SPG it did not matter as it was not supposed to ever come in direct contact with the enemy.
The LeFHs produced were stationed in France until July 1943, when the regiment was sent to Italy. Ordered to Sardinia, no records have been found that they actually got there or what their ultimate fate was.
