Our friends at UPS have introduced a new service that will allow you to have a little more control over how and when your Shapeways 3D prints are delivered.
As a UPS My Choice Member you can reschedule, redirect, or give authorization online for UPS to deliver packages without a signature when you won’t be home to sign in person = no more missed deliveries. You’ll always get the most up-to-date information about UPS deliveries without the need for tracking numbers.
With two membership levels to choose from, UPS My Choice and UPS My Choice Premium ($40 per year), you decide how much control you need when it comes to managing your UPS home deliveries. From rescheduling deliveries, delivering to another address, instructions for the driver and for extra $ you can confirm a 2 hour delivery window.
Shapeways is also working on improving our packaging, from how your 3D prints are protected to the removal of individual packaging on bulk orders and improvements in the external presentation. Let us know what you think when your new 3D prints arrive.
Duann, great news, but ONLY if you live in the US. There is no sign on their UK website of them having introduced the service on this side of the Atlantic.
ah, hopefully they will roll this out throughout the world.
Cool, always good to have more control.
Any plans to have alternate shipping options with UPS? ie less expensive shipping (but a longer shipping time) for those of us currently having to pay $20 for shipping alone (like Australia)
Most of my orders arent needed super fast, so I dont mind waiting if it means I dont have to fork out $20 for shipping alone. Im sure many others agree. Would be interesting to know if you guys have looked into it at all, or plan to at some stage.
Cheers,
Alex
Yippee! More things UPS will charge us for!
My last two shipments to Canada have had a $10 brokerage fee added to them by UPS. With 13% taxes on the value of the item, shipping and the brokerage fee plus duty I had to pay the driver over $14 when the last package was delivered.
I’d also like the option of a cheaper (slower if necessary) shipping method; $21+ per shipment adds up fast.
Hey GWMT,
It is on our wish list.. We will let you know when it is possible.
Cheers
