Iconic RC Revival Meeting: a UK Car Rally Supports Parkinson’s Charity

Tomorrow my RC partner in crime, Tijs, and I will set out on a road and ferry trip to England for the weekend. Our destination is Grantham, Lincolnshire, where we’ll take part in the Iconic RC Revival Meeting, an annual car rally and charity event to raise money for Parkinson’s UK, an organization seeking a cure for the disease and working to improve life for everyone affected by it.

The Iconic RC Revival started as a small gathering for RC car enthusiasts who drive classic cars — models from 1998 or earlier. Saturday’s races are for 2WD Electric 1:10 Buggies, and 4WD Buggies take over on Sunday. The competition is divided into four classes, depending on the build year. The oldest cars in competition were made between 1977 and 1983. There’s also a concours d’elegance for these classic RC cars, and wheelie cars and monster trucks too.

In past years, the Iconic RC Revival raised money for breast cancer. However, organizer John Weston explains, “The chap that I originally created the Revival with was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2015, and we’ve chosen to support that charity ever since.”

Proceeds from the raffle will go to Parkinson’s UK.
