This week we are featuring Tomer Emmar, designer behind the unique shop fortyseven. With a design focus around androgynous bespoke silver jewelry, the shop features beautiful jewelry that can be enjoyed by everyone!

Tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? Where are you located?
My name is Tomer and I am a multidisciplinary industrial designer. I am located in San Francisco, CA with aspiration to travel all over the world.

What’s the story behind your designs? What inspires you?
My designs focus on androgyny and balance between masculinity and femininity; it’s about finding the fine balance between the shape and the scale.

What brought you to 3D printing with Shapeways?
The amazing quality and craftsmanship, fantastic customer service that always replies within a timely manner, and the fact that it is all made in the USA!

How did you learn how to design in 3D?
I learned Solidworks when I was studying with the Faculty of Design at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia.

How do you promote your work?
I promote my work mostly by word of mouth. I envisioned and droplet in the ocean when I started the brand. The collection is the droplet, and the ripples around it are the people supporting the work. It starts small, but more and more people will get to know about it.

Who are your favorite designers or artists? Who in the Shapeways community has served as an inspiration to you?
I enjoy following somersault1824, Eeppium, terrimoore, and Schaewill.

If you weren’t limited by current technologies, what would you want to make using 3D printing?
I would love to be able to print food! Ha!
