This week we’ve started to see some interesting things the Shapeways community is doing with our new Raw Aluminum material to make high quality working prototypes. We’ve also seen 3D printed drones and the rise of professional FPV drone racing.
But the best has yet to come. We asked one of our favorite drone related Shapeways shops, Fusion Imaging to create a prototype for the fastest, lightest drone imaginable with our DMLS Raw Aluminum and they were up to the task. Here’s a short video showing the parts they ordered leaving or facility in New York City, and arriving in Sydney, Australia.
Want to see what happens once this drone is assembled and in the air? tune in next week! And start following Fusion Imaging on Shapeways! It is the easiest way to see what they are up to everyday!
Hey guys this is a really exciting project for us as well as a great opportunity to help shapeways test their new aluminium material.
Our amazing designer Haydn has been tirelessly developing this drone and putting it together over the last few days. We plan to make our maiden flight this weekend and will be making a video of it to share with everyone.
We have also been putting up some teasers on our instagram and twitter pages @fusion_imaging so be sure to follow our progress. We even went and purchased a radar speed gun so that we can document the speed of the drone.
Thanks shapeways for this great opportunity to partner with you on this project, the guys at Fusion Imaging here in Sydney are pumped and ready to off the worlds first 3d printed aluminium FPV racing drone.
