About
I attended the Art Academy in the 70s, under the guidance of Maestro Alberto Viani.From 1971 to 2006 I taught Painting Disciplines at Boccioni Art High School in Valdagno (Vicenza - Italy).My initial interests were geometric ornaments, arabesques, labyrinths from which I started investigating on modularity, which sometimes finds correspondence with the programmed art.I am attracted by the main topological figures from which I obtain sculptures and objects.This research has, as central idea, the continuous curve and the surface bounded on itself.It is an incessant obsessive pursuit of something I cannot define, except as a strong attraction towards an idea of homogeneous elastic infinite that these forms contain, express and symbolise.In 1997 I started using computers. I am interested in graphic programs, 3D and web editing.Although I have a rather shy character, I realised some exhibitions in Valdagno (Vicenza - Italy), where I live.
I have chosen the term BUTTON because, in Italian, it includes both “eight” and “brass” terms.This object is generally circular, sliding and with a bit decayed daily uses.It is a term used when a person wants to strike up a conversation: well, let's try with these.The first three realised buttons have forms equivalent to the Möbius strip, toro and Klein bottle, each one presented with a hole on the surface.I wanted to give a new look to these three topological models, adapting them to a simple form close to the circle and barely diversified.
The RING in its simplest form is a ring-shaped object, geometrically called toro.It is a wearable sculpture, it has an ancient place in the objects' world.It already holds a very symbolic mean and the transition from toro to the Möbius strip amplifies and updates its meanings, making it modern and attractive.It is the base object that lends itself perfectly to variations derived from topological figures.If there is already a Möbius ring, hence why not having a Klein ring or a ring with an elastic variation of toro, or a ring-shaped object with two holes, or a toro with a hole on the surface to imagine elastic and then pulled and fixed in different forms?This is the spirit originally animating my research on rings, then it has freely broaden without restrictions.
