Product Description
This collection contains one Shrike Light Dreadnought, two FastHawks, and two Fast SparrowHawk-A Light Cruisers.

When other empires deployed fast cruisers and fast dreadnoughts as raiders, the Romulans followed suit by redesigning their Condor dreadnought into a slimmer and lighter design that used the same engines as the larger Condor. This gave the ship more speed in strategic movement and more power in tactical combat. It was designed to raid deep behind enemy lines and to destroy key targets, but only one was built as the Romulans (trying to catch up in building a modern fleet) could not spare dreadnought production slots for a lighter and less powerful ship. The only ship of this type was lost on a raid behind Gorn lines but destroyed a key logistics node that stopped a Gorn offensive for over a year.

The Romulan FastHawk was the fast raider cruiser of the heavy hawk series. The more powerful engines (and smaller weapons load) produced a much faster ship (strategically; in tactical combat it was no faster but the extra power made things more interesting). The raked design was needed to stabilize the ship in faster flight.

As with other empires, the Romulans designed a fast raider version of their war cruiser. Construction was delayed for years because a standard Romulan cruiser with its cloaking device already made a good raider, but eventually, the need for a fast raider won out. They named it the Fast SparrowHawk-A Light Cruiser.  While based on a modified SparrowHawk hull, the ship is not modular and all were built as standard warships, not modular cruisers. Known names include Blaze, Death Talon, and Proconsul Crosus.

This sprue of unpainted ships is designed to fit on a typical 5/8-inch hex map or to allow more room on a larger hex map. (If used for A Call to Arms: Star Fleet, simply change the measurements from inches to centimeters.) Smooth Fine Detail Plastic makes an excellent cloaked ship!
