Product Description
MICHELANGELO'S PIETÀ necklace pendant This pendant is an extremely accurate 3D scanned, 3D printed, and hand-cast reduction of the face of the Virgin Mary from Michelangelo's sculptural masterpiece, the Pietà. Completed in 1499 and now housed in the St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City, Michelangelo's interpretation was unprecedented in Italian sculpture, balancing Renaissance ideals of classical beauty with naturalism. In 2014, I obtained a high-quality cast of Mary's face, which had been made from a mold taken directly from Michelangelo's original marble in the Vatican. I produced a 3D scan, and prepared the resulting data for 3D printing. The result is the highest-quality 3D model—and the most accurate reduction—of the face of Mary ever produced. You can now wear you own copy of the Pietà around your neck, in a variety of materials. MATERIALS: Available in gold, silver, bronze, and platinum. FINISHES: All my designs have very fine details. The "raw" and "natural" finish shows all the most intricate features, and has a very fine-grained texture that creates a subtle satin finish. It's bright and pretty, and on silver it creates an unusual luminous effect. The "polished" and plated options are smooth and are nearly a mirror finish; the very finest details are slightly softened in the polishing process. MATERIAL CARE & HANDLING: Materials other than gold and platinum may tarnish, but can be polished bright again with a soft cloth.
