Product Description
Designed for the Hobby Boss P-61 kit. This replaces all parts for the radar bay, the base frame mounts to the kit's pewter bulkhead ("metal part 2" in the instructions) and will plug onto any of their P-61 kits. Technically this radar bay is only accurate for the P-61B and P-61C as it depictes the SCR-720C radar unit and the P-61A utilized the SCR-720A.
However, a note. With the introduction of the larger SCR-720C radar, replacing the smaller SCR-720A, Northrop extended the nose on the Black Widow starting with the P-61B. This is denoted in Hobby Boss' P-61B kit with the small fueslage extension at the front. However, for whatever reason, Hobby Boss' P-61C kit does not have this fuselage. Instead, their P-61C kit has the same shorter fuelsage of the P-61A kit.
And what that means is, if you're wanting to depict the radar bay enclosed in the translucent radome (it could be a cool effect), it won't work on either the P-61A or P-61C. That is, the radar will plug onto the bulkhead just fine, but you won't be able to slide the radome over the radar assembly on either of those two kits (P-61A or P-61C) as they come with the short fuelsage (which is correct for the P-61A, just not for the P-61C) and the radome will interfere with the radar assembly.
Naturally this won't matter if you're looking just to show it off in a maintenance scenario, radome off. But I just wanted to point that out as I had drawn this as accurate as my eyeballs would allow (forget about finidng drawings for ANY of this stuff) and one critera I set was that it made sense for it all to tuck into the radome as on the real thing.
