Product Description
This sprue of ships contains the Gorn Tournament Command Cruiser, Kzinti Tournament Command Cruiser, ISC Tournament Cruiser, WYN Auxiliary Battlecruiser, Archeo-Tholian (Tholian) Tournament Cruiser, Neo-Tholian Tournament Cruiser, and Andromedan Krait.
The Gorn Tournament Command Cruiser has at its base the Allosaurus Heavy Cruiser with command capabilities added.
The Kzinti Tournament Command Cruiser is based on the Command Cruiser, a specially modified Battlecruiser with improved communications and command facilities, as well as more power and weapons. It was an extremely powerful ship and was vital to the salvation of the Hegemony during the early wars with the Klingons and Lyrans as it could engage the best enemy cruisers on equal terms.
The ISC Tournament Cruiser is based on the the ISC Star Cruiser, built as a match (or overmatch) for the Gorn battlecruiser and the Romulan FireHawk. One of the earlier ISC ships, it served on frontier patrol (in the same manner as the heavy cruisers of other empires) while the remainder of the fleet and the echelon tactical system were developed. It is one of the best and biggest heavy cruisers in the game, having the advantage of a design based on a detailed study of stolen plans for Gorn and Romulan ships.
The WYN Auxiliary Battlecruiser reflects a standard Class-II large freighter modified for use as a warship. Such a design could never survive in the galaxy at large, but fighting radiation-disabled invading starships within sight of their own repair yards made this a workable proposition, and the WYNs built a dozen of these heavier ships.
The Archeo-Tholian Tournament Cruiser is based on the Web Caster Command Cruiser which incorporated technology from their M81 home galaxy.
The Neo-Tholian Tournament Cruiser is based on the Neo-Tholian heavy cruiser, the backbone of the Tholian Will's home fleet. A small number of these ships arrived in this galaxy but the Tholians could not build more of these military types. These ships became the flagships of the active fleets, regularly engaging the Klingons and (less frequently) the Romulans.
The Andromedan Krait is based on the Python, an anomaly in the Andromedan fleet. It can operate independently because (unlike other satellite ships) it has a displacement device (needed to access the Rapid Transit Network).
This sprue of unpainted ships is designed to fit on a typical 5/8-inch hex map or to allow more room on a larger hex map. (If used for A Call to Arms: Star Fleet, simply change the measurements from inches to centimeters.)
