Product Description
The Flivvers were a simulator empire based on two key items of technology: the Hyperdrone (a warp-320 weapon which fits in somewhere in-between seeking and direct-fire weapons) and Hoverwarp technology (which allowed Flivver ships to move sideways and backwards at will, keeping their Hyperdrone launchers aimed at the enemy). The Flivvers were originally developed by the Klingons, but during the early stages of the Klingon invasion, a copy of the software was captured (along with a Klingon ship) during a counter-attack and (after Star Fleet Intelligence was convinced that the file did not describe a new Klingon weapon), it was adapted by the Federation for dissimilar combat training.
This sprue of ships includes a Heavy Cruiser and a War Cruiser.
Designed to duel with typical cruisers and stand in the battle line during fleet engagements, the Flivver Heavy Cruiser has two central “hover” engines and four Hyperdrone racks. The cargo boxes each hold 50 spare Hyperdrones.
Typical of most war cruisers, the Flivver War Cruiser retained the firepower of a heavy cruiser but had reduced internal volume and space keeping capabilities, and this was reflected in the strategic simulations. In the tactical simulations, encountering one of these was usually more of a challenge than even a veteran command grade officer attending an advanced or refresher course wanted.
This sprue of ships is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
