3788 Scale Federation New Heavy Scout (NHS) WEM

The Federation had long enjoyed an electronic-warfare superiority over the Klingons due to their superb pre-General War scouts. Steady losses among the scout classes (destroyer, frigate, war destroyer, new light cruiser) during the General War (not to mention the increasing appearance of heavy scouts among Coalition fleets) weakened the Federation advantage. Star Fleet (unable to improve the New Light Cruiser-based scout cruiser) turned to the new heavy cruiser class to fill the gap. Two New Light Cruiser-based new scout cruisers (USS Discovery and USS Santa Maria) were converted into New Heavy Cruiser-based New Heavy Scouts; one in the year that the Alliance recaptured enough territory to separate the Klingons and Romulans, and the other during the following year.  A third New Scout Cruiser was converted into a New Heavy Scout a few years later.

This ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
