Product Description
This circular plate is designed to hold the feed or take-up spools of a DIY cine film telecine or digitizing device. The dimensions have been chosen to match those of the common 50 foot (15 metre) spools sent out by all super 8 cine film processing labs. The fit of the reel on this plate is close but not too tight; a reel mounted on this plate will helpfully slip to reduce tension on the film. This clutch-like action could be employed with continuous motor operation to provide a gentle but never overwhelming tension on the film. For a tighter fit, and no such 'clutch effect' a small piece of electrical tape can be applied around the central column of the plate to slightly increase its diameter and ensure a tighter fit to the film spool. There is a central hole that is 5mm in diameter with a flat, this has been designed to fit very tightly onto the drive shaft of an Astrosyn (or other brand) stepper motor. (Some filing-out might be required if this fit is too tight for your motor shaft.)
This is version 007 designed for a much better fit!
