3125 Scale LDR Local Defense Cruiser (LCA) CVN

The Lyran Democratic Republic (LDR) began as the Dark Star County of the Enemy's Blood Duchy of the Lyran Empire. The ruling family was corrupt, and a revolution slaughtered the family and declared a democracy, but still loyal to Enemy's Blood. The Duke decided to remove the democrats and install his second son as the new count, which would strengthen his rule as he would be able to count on his son's support. The adjacent Foremost Duchy thought it better if the Dark Star County became independent as this would weaken their rivals at Enemy's Blood. Dark Star County eventually became fully independent, albeit only because Foremost protected it from Enemy's Blood. The LDR then made a deal with the Hydrans, gaining Gatling phaser technology in exchange for a promise to never rejoin the Lyran Empire. Their "smooth hull" ships reflect the cleaner lines of thought and lower maintenance support of the republic.

The Dark Star County had an early heavy cruiser and, when it was replaced with a Tiger heavy cruiser in about a year before the end of the thrird Lyran-Kzinti War, converted it into a local defense cruiser identical to the Lyran type. When the Lyran Democratic Republic became independent in Y145, they kept the ship in service, keeping it around the capital (which was its purpose) while the regular fleet units fought the various battles that secured their independence. The Lyran Democratic Republic modified their local defense cruiser (along with the rest of their ships) to use phaser-Gs, but did not fit them to this ship until nearly 20 years later as the other ships had a higher priority. The expansion of the Lyran Democratic Republic fleet kept this ship in service as a training unit which never left the capital, but by the time the ISC concluded its pacification of the Alpha Octant,  the ship’s age and the difficulty of maintaining it caused it to be stricken from the Lyran Democratic Republic fleet list. It remained in orbit above the Lyran Democratic Republic capital as a museum, and was destroyed by the Andromedans in one of their first attacks on the capital while Lyran Democratic Republic technicians were aboard desperately trying to make the ship operable again.

This ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
