Product Description
4x of these allow someone to install 2x of the 38.1mm = 1.5" size version of the Problem Solvers Backstop (that is: 2x of QBP part# BR5457) onto the top-tube of a Surly World Troller bicycle frame.
Two key reasons for this:
1:
A travel bike's frame must come apart into pieces. This requires that the control wires -- 1x for the rear canti-brake and 1x for the rear derailleur -- have in-line cable-separators (www.sandsmachine.com/ac_cable.htm). These cable-separators (aka "cable-couplers") require a length of exposed cable, and that requires two pairs of "housing stops". These are typically pre-welded onto the bicycle frame, but in the case of the Surly World Troller frame in particular, they're not there, so they must be added.
2:
To keep the cable-separators from dragging across the top-tube's underside paint finish and rubbing it off, a wider-than-normal "air-gap" is required between the exposed cable and the top tube itself.
4x of these plastic pieces, plus the 2x Problem Solvers Backstops (QBP part# BR5457), provide exactly this.
