Product Description
This is an HO Scaale model of the 2 Chicago & Illinois Midland EMD SD18s built for the railroad in the early 1960s. These locomotives stayed on the railroad until its takeover by Genesee & Wyoming and are still in service with the Illinois and Midland railroad
This model includes the long hood, cab with number board inserts, nose, and the optional carbody air filter added later in the locomotive's life. The body shell is designed to sit on the frame and walkway of either a Proto 2000 SD7/9 or an Atlas SD24. With either donor model, remove the hood, cab, and the cab subframe/battery boxes, leaving only the walkway, hand rails, and pilots. The modeler will also need to supply all of the necessary detail parts to complete it including radiator fans, hood grab irons and ladders, lift rings, radiator intake grilles, and window glazing.
Recommended parts to complete model:
- 1 Proto 2000/Walthers SD7 or SD9 or Atlas SD24 (not the yellow box version)

- Plano Model Products #14873 SD7/9 End Ladders
