Repair & Print .dae Without Loosing Textures?

Discussion in 'Software and Applications' started by Phantasmagoria, Jun 6, 2021.

  1. Hi,

I have a colored 3d model in COLLADA format (.dae) with textures
(.dds / .jpg) that I want to be color-printed, but it has errors.
Problem: when I import & repair it in Netfabb, I loose the color
information. When I upload it to Shapeways without repair, it
    says 'unprintable'.

QUESTION: how can I repair a textured .dae model to make it
printable for Shapeways without loosing the colors?

I am a *TOTAL* newbie with 3d printing (really). If you know
tools that can repair .dae files, please let me know. If you know
a different way how my goal could be achieved (e.g. re-applying
textures after repair, I don't have the SLIGHTEST clue how this
is done), then please explain this to me STEP by STEP, as
detailed and simple as ever possible...

Thanks in advance, anyone who can help (has nobody ever
had this problem yet with needing to fix a .dae file? Shapeways
just says, "Load it up, we can color-print the format now".
But what if it needs repair first??)
