    Hi Shapeways Community,

On September 18, we will be updating our pricing for cast metal materials including Silver, Brass, Bronze, Gold Plated Brass, Rhodium Plated Brass, Gold, and Platinum. Here’s an overview of what’s changing with some more details below:

    • Replacing the minimum price per part with a minimum price per model

    • Increasing prices for Gold due to higher market value

    • Decreasing prices for Platinum due to lower market value

Prices are dropping for earrings and cufflinks! We received feedback that our last price changes had a significant impact on these products that are typically only purchased in pairs so we have taken action to reduce prices for models with two parts by replacing the minimum fee per part with a minimum fee per model. Keep in mind, if you’d like to order a multi-part model in a cast metal material, it can have a maximum of two parts and they must be a pair of earrings or cufflinks. For all other two-part models, we suggest uploading each as a separate model file.

We are also making some additional price changes to Gold and Platinum due to the changing market prices for these precious metals. Unfortunately, to cover the significant rise in Gold’s market value, our Gold (not Gold Plated Brass) prices are increasing. You can expect the Gold prices to rise by no more than 20%.

On a more positive note, the fluctuating commodities market has enabled us to lower the price of Platinum! Platinum 3D printed designs are still of the highest quality, just at a more market-friendly price.

If you are selling products through the Shapeways marketplace, your prices will change automatically and your will continue to earn the same markup you've set. If you are selling on an external platform we cannot automatically update your customer facing prices at this time and you will need to do this manually. We understand price changes can be difficult for small business owners and we will do our very best not to change prices on these materials again before the end of 2019. If you have questions about these updates, please contact service@shapeways.com.

I'll update this thread when prices go live next week.
