One rabbit wraps around the finger, almost touching its own tail…
A ring made from high resolution 3d printed wax and lost wax casting, hand polished to a smooth finish. This redesign in solid gold features a slimmer more elegant design of the original.
The act of chasing one’s own tail is ironic — it is somehow both admirable yet foolish. It is nearsightedness… blind ambition for achievement ignorant of its unrealistic pursuit. As silly as it may seem, we often find ourselves caught in such a motion, chasing a goal that feels so real and so close. We may never realize we are chasing our own tail, until we find ourselves in the third person, away from the very act.
This redesign in solid gold features a slimmer proportion to the original. The ring is a part of collection of designs using only rabbits to create the form. Notice that the geometry of the ring has two perfect circles — the inner band and the outer spine of the rabbit. While the band is only comprised of the form of the rabbit, the form creates a story beyond the animal in reference. The rabbit was meticulously crafted using digital sculpting and handmade sketches. The ring is made using parametric computer algorithms, which allows the design to adapt across all ring sizes without the rabbit becoming bigger or circles becoming skewed.
